4-Wheeling in the Black Hills, South Dakota

Not sure if you have ever been 4-wheeling in the Black Hills, but it is awesome. Lots of old logging trails and mine trails to drive on and 4-wheeling is a huge part of a way of life there. You can even license your wheeler or side-by-side and drive on the roads. Just like during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally where all of the businesses cater to the bikers, they do the same for ATV and UTV riders too. There are several places that I recommend to stay then you are there. One is Trails Head Lodge. You can bring your own machines or you can rent ATV’s, UTV’s, and even snowmobiles in the winter. Got to www.RECtoys.com in the ATV category and I have a direct link to their resort.

I also recommend staying at the Ponderosa Pines Inn and Cabins in Lead. They have cozy cabins or motel style rooms and very good rates. Dan & Joyce Carsten have a very nice location and keep it up very well. Lots of parking and close to Deadwood and Terry Peak for skiing too.

If you are driving an RV or camper trailer, I also recommend Kickstands RV park in Sturgis. They have full hook-ups for your RV and also have a bar and restaurant with entertainment on the weekends too.
